Keeping Music Live

Welcome to istonicmusic, the home of the Rockspert

I first picked up a guitar back in the days when men strutted like peacocks on stages at venues in every town across world. Shy and retiring, I wanted to have a voice, to be heard and to break out of the ordinary.

I firmly believe that the most important players in rock bands are the rhythm section without which all those twiddly guitar notes are as interesting and listening to someone practicing scales on a record. I wanted to be like Rudy Schenker and Malcom Young, the power house of a band, locked in with Bass and Drums driving the music. I did and i still play like that even if I am the sole guitar in the band. It was in the early 1990’s when a band I was in parted company with their long term lead guitarist and singer. I owned a microphone and found myself not only singing but doing all the fiddly guitar bits. I love it and I never forget It was luck that gave me the chance to stand up and be counted.

So here I am, 30 years and in excess of 1,500 live shows later I am still gigging. From empty pubs to festivals with thousands of punters, my philosophy is the same, get on that stage and play like your life depends on it.

Fortunately for me, I am still in demand and have a number of acts I am working in.

Known as the Rockspert, I play in Big Blue This. A 3 piece high octain powerful blues band with a covers show and original music to be released in 2023. Check them out on the link about.

The Buttmonkies are a classic rock covers band. I play Vlad Doomfingers alongside Vigo Plankenspanker, Dirk Thunder and Dave on Bass. see their page for more info.

Jambon Chapeau is me just chilling with some friends. The eclectic acoustic set is a departure from the 5 thumbed noise polluting rock n roll that is my musical comfort blanket. I also play a solo set of original music, some from bands and some I did just for the hell of it.

Nightprowler was an original band we took out for a few years. Crazy days of excesses we gigged over two hundred shows in 18 months. More on them on their page. I include Nightprowler because work is in progress to rearrange the old songs and together with new music, release a new album in 2023.

So that is me, thank you for stopping by.
